I have selected 14 photographs from my forthcoming book, Seeing Through Time, for the 2022 calendar. The title was inspired by a quote from the historian of photography, Estelle Jussim: “What if photography does not stop time, but rather lets us see through time?”
The photographs in the calendar will allow you to experience the passage of time in all its dimensions. You will find images of deep geological time, the seasonal progression of time, and the moment-by-moment changes of passing clouds. Photographed in seven western National Parks, the photos capture the extraordinary beauty of diverse landscapes. At Saguaro National Park in southern Arizona, rugged mountains punctuate the valleys of the Sonoran Desert. In northern Arizona and southern Utah, the multicolored canyons and cliffs of the Colorado Plateau are revealed in Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Finally, the Rocky Mountains define the landscape of Wyoming and Montana in Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks. These landscapes inspired me to look deeply into time as the subject of my photographs and as a way of intimately experiencing the passing of time in my own life.
I will be announcing more about the publication of Seeing Through Time in a future newsletter. In the meantime, you can order your calendar directly from the printer by clicking on the button below. The price is $12 plus shipping. Proceeds from calendar sales will help support the US Route 89 website, which benefits the many small businesses located along the highway.
