We turned the corner at Ash Fork from I-40 to Arizona 89. What caught our eyes immediately was the flash of yellow along the road ahead. It is early fall and I hadn’t expected such an extravagant display along the shoulders and in the fields as far as we could see. Sunflowers! For thirty miles across Big Black Mesa we were surrounded by sunflowers. What a beautiful way to start a long days drive.
