Well, despite being rather silent lately, I haven’t been idle. In fact, one of my pet peeves is the comments people make when I tell them I’m an artist and they tell me about how much fun I must be having and wish they could be having such a luxurious life, too. The other response I’ve been getting lately (now that my hair is a frank, non-dyed, gray), is about how lucky I am to have a nice hobby now that I’m retired.

What I have been doing is working on new paintings for a solo show in Phoenix. It’s at the beautiful Willo North Gallery in downtown Phoenix. The paintings are a continuation of the Nooks & Crannies series I’ve been working on for the last several years. I have nine new paintings in the exhibit, as well as twenty previous paintings. No, I didn’t do all nine since the trip–I’m an agonizingly slow painter. These have been in progress for many months, but I did manage to finish them up in time!

Here are a few of the new paintings. These are all from Peña Blanca Lake, just off of US Route 89, close to Tubac. You can see more on my website.
