On the last day of our Spring 2010 Road Trip we had breakfast with Wayne Ranney in Flagstaff. Wayne was an early supporter of the US Route 89 project; in fact he is Member #2 of the US Route 89 Appreciation Society (Barbara is #1). He and his wife, Helen, are sponsors of the Escalante-Grand Staricase National Monument section of the road trip. Helen works for the Grand Canyon Association, also an early support of the project. Wayne is a geologist and author with a special fondness for highway 89. Here’s why, in his own words:
